SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PLAN SUMMARY 2009/10 v2

 

Our School Development Plan identifies the main areas our school is going to develop over the coming months. We now create a new School Development Plan every year, identifying 12 months of proposed work. We also set out some longer-term aims.

 

There are four general areas that we focus upon:

 

Curriculum Issues:

Usually monitored by the Life Of The School Sub Committee

 

Whole School Issues:

Usually monitored by the Life Of The School Sub Committee

 

Environmental Issues:

Usually monitored by the Facilities Committee

 

Staffing Issues:

Usually monitored by the People Committee.

 

In Life Of The School Governors’ Meetings, we report upon the progress of our School Development Plan.

 

·        Some of our issues are essential and are expected to be achieved.

 

·        We also identify some issues, which will be developed if appropriate funding can be found. (Aspirational)

We will continue to improve one-to-one reading throughout the school by increasing the amount of access children have to being heard read.

 

We will continue to make the LA aware of our concerns with regards to obstacles in relation to delivering special needs to vulnerable children.

 

Use Raised Funds to create a Nature Area in school using children’s ideas, promoted by School Council.

 

We will seek to achieve Investors in People for 2010.

 

We will seek to achieve the Basic skills quality Mark 2010.

 

We will review our discipline policy and take an audit of discipline throughout the school.  We will address any discipline issues that emerge from the audit

 

We would like to improve temperature control in school if we can (Aspirational – requires Air Conditioning.)

 

We will monitor staff numbers and children numbers to ensure we have sufficient levels to ensure a smooth delivery of 2010/11 curriculum

 

We will refine the use of tracking sheets to ensure we are constantly aware of children's progress.  We will ensure that children failing to make progress are closely scrutinised to improve their position.

 

We will revise and update our typical year calendar to help manage positive change in school through careful strategic scheduling.

 

KS 2 Football Pitch (Aspirational)

 

 

 

We will use mail merge from our tracking spreadsheets to produce detailed specific reports on children based on their tracking scores, in both November and July.

 

We will manage continued personal development training for specific vulnerable groups e.g. change the way you think

 

FS Sensory Garden – funds permitting (Aspirational)

 

We will revise our reporting systems to parents to ensure the most important information reaches them.

 

We will manage a balanced programme of events suitable for parents and children in our little Saints rooms.

We will seek funding for permanent outdoor play equipment in FS (Aspirational)

 

We will continue to raise the profile of RE in schools through termly class assemblies based on Here I am

.

 

To maintain frequent (broadly monthly) Finance checks in keeping with FMSIS

 

A new bell system will be introduced in order to tighten up on slippage time.

 

 

We will monitor subjects in keeping with assessment policy: RE, Citizenship, Geography, Maths, P.E.

 

We will launch SEAL as a whole school approach.

 

 

 

We will introduce APP, initially for writing then across Literacy, science and Numeracy.

 

Co-ordinator to introduce and train Staff in process starting with Writing assessment

 

Strategy to be monitored by co-ordinator and DHT

 

Access specific SEN training (eg Autism etc) for staff with particular requirements.

 

 

 

Improved staff monitoring of subject planning by hosting all electronic long, medium and short term planning on the staff web site.

 

Paediatric First Aid training for key staff.

 

 

 

SEF monitoring in line with the school calendar.

 

Write and introduce a Bereavement Policy for use throughout the school

 

 

We will introduce Continuous provision into Y1 on a gradual basis throughout the year

 

We will access CAF training for key members of staff

 

 

 

Whole school Launch of Modern Foreign Languages, anticipated Jan 2010

 

All Policies to be checked on a rota basis throughout the year

 

 

 

 

Safe guarding/safer recruitment updated

 

 

 

 

Provision mapping will be introduced as a whole school approach

 

 

 

 

New Medical registers will be put in place and procedures towards consent to administer medicines will be tightened up

 

 

 

 

We will gain charity status for the school

 

 

 

The Home School agreement will be revised
